ICT PS Call 5- Digital library of rare books printed in Europe
A Turkish University is preparing a proposal for the ICT PSP Call 5 and is looking for libraries, universities, research institutes, government agencies, organizations, which have the type of rare books and works, and capable of processing them according to the international rules and standards.
The purpose of the project is to create open-access digital library with historical, cultural, social etc resources that reflect influences and exchanges between European and Near Eastern countries.
Description: The purpose of the project is to create open-access full-text digital library with historical, cultural, social, economic and scientific resources that reflect influences and exchanges between European and Near Eastern countries. Therefore, the full-text digital library will include rare books and materials printed in Europe and prepared by European scholars that have been published until 1940. Selected materials will be free of any copyright problems and mut be difficult to access. The digital library will be accessed in English, German and French along with the languages of the participating countries.
The Project will be realized with the cooperation of the experts in the field from the participating countries. Rare materials owned by the agencies and organizations of the participating countries will have to be organized and digitized according to the set standards.
Thus, the project will achieve the followings:
a. To provide open-access to researchers and other interested with the rare materials independent of space and time.
b. To prepare the union catalog of the library holding.
c. To prevent the damage of the materials.
